FEI Crisis Responder Training

General Focus of Training

To prepare FEI Responders for their roles as on-site Family Assistance Representatives (FAR), as Crisis Support Counselors (CSC) and/or Family Information Counselors (FIC).

Target Audience

Credentialed Psychologists, Behavioral Health Counselors, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Nurses and other health professionals who meet the criteria below.


Master’s level (or above) health professional and a minimum of 2 years post Master's experience. Participants must also have a state license in their discipline.

  • Potential participants must also complete and submit an application and questionnaire provided by the Crisis Management Team at FEI Behavioral Health.
  • Agency employees or private practitioners must be willing to enter into contract with FEI Behavioral Health.
  • Participants working for an agency must also request and receive permission from their supervisor both to attend the training and to be available for responses.


  • Understand the roles and responsibilities associated with Family Assistance Support (developed according to the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Legislation).
  • Learn “best practices” across industries when responding to mass casualty events.

Course Outline

Two, four-hour trainings are provided via webinar that will include the following information:

  • Overview of FEI Behavioral Health
  • Overview of Federal Family Assistance Plan for Aviation Disasters
  • Crisis Support Roles/Locations
  • Communicating with Traumatized Individuals
  • Setting up the Family Support Hotel
  • Self-care and Personal Resilience

Course Registration Rates

  • $75.00 for both sessions
  • $50.00 Alliance Members

Course Dates

Spring 2018

  • Session 1: April 19th or 20th, 10:00 am- 2:00 pm CST
  • Session 2: April 26th or 27th, 10:00 am- 2:00 pm CST

This 8-hour training is split into two sessions. Both sessions must be completed for course completion and to qualify for CEU’s.
