Understanding how trauma affects behavior and interactions.

FEI is presenting at the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Division of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities’ 2018 Developmental Disabilities (DD) Learning Collaborative, running May 2-4 in Augusta, Ga.

Business Solutions Engineer Raquelle Solon’s plenary session, “A Trauma-Informed Approach to Behavior Intervention,” will take place on May 2 at 11:30 a.m. EST. The session is aimed at helping developmental disability providers understand the connection between trauma and behavior, and how to approach their interactions with those they serve accordingly.

Solon will discuss how to implement a trauma-informed approach to behavior intervention that will lead to healthy, respectful relationships among both clients and staff. Attendees can expect to explore strategies they can then use when confronted with difficult situations as well as learn brain-based interactions for managing stress and emotions.
